Bisbee Copper Kings Game Reviews

Copper Kings Still Tied with Cotton Kings
Monday, July 12, 2010
The Copper Kings and the Casa Grande Cotton Kings faced off on Friday and each took away one win to stay tied (10 - 4) at the top of the Pacific Southwest Baseball League standings. Saturday's games may have ended with a different result, but only three innings were played before the monsoon rains shut down the park for the evening.
Both games were real pitchers duels with final scores of 14 - 13, Bisbee winning the first, Casa Grande the second. In the first game Cody Downing went 5 1/3 and gave up only 2 runs. The relievers managed to give up 11 more with 6 walked batters scoring 5 runs. The Cotton Kings relievers' were no better though and Bisbee pulled it out in the bottom of the 9th with 3 RBI's on a Taylor Stone double with 2 out. The second game was a mirror image of the first. The Cotton Kings scored 3 in the ninth and put 7 of 10 walks across the plate during the game.
On Wednesday the Tucson Orioles visited and put up a good contest. The final was 13 - 10 Kings, once again with lots of walks by the relief pitching. Tyler Berg hit his 8th homer of the season and the hitting was good all around.
